Combine vision, drive, and outstanding leadership to inspire a team to refresh and enhance the Engineering School’s distinctive and vibrant presence across Tasmania with local, national, and international impact.

The Head of School of Engineering will have a key strategic role providing leadership across all streams of activity, including engagement with communities that define the School’s purpose; research; learning and teaching; and associated professional activities. Working collaboratively within the College of Sciences and Engineering and across the University, the Head of School will engage team members in transformational change and innovation.

The Head of School will provide exceptional academic, strategic, and operational direction across the School’s student experience, learning and teaching, and research outcomes, while proactively building industry and community engagement.  The Head of School will bring expertise, enthusiasm, and highly developed leadership and management skills.

We are looking for an authentic leader with senior academic and/or professional experience, who is caring, people-centred, empathic, and ready to work with an established team.  This challenge requires a logical, critical, and creative thinker, a planner and someone who understands the big picture, makes evidence-based decisions, and executes strategic initiatives effectively in a supportive and inclusive environment.  A key to success is understanding the needs of industry, and the School’s capacity to engage effectively with Tasmanian industry futures.

Applications will be supported with evidence of leading transformative change agendas; the translation of strategy to outcomes; resource and financial management, along with a distinguished record of research and academic experience, and qualifications commensurate with this senior appointment.
