The Program in American Language Studies, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), is seeking part-time instructors for Summer 2021 to teach beginner, basic, intermediate, advanced English language courses, and IELTS/TOEFL preparation courses. The successful candidate will cover the full range of duties associated with teaching, including, but not limited to, preparing course material; creating and posting a course syllabus; presenting material during the assigned course times; holding office hours and providing appropriate out-of-class time for students; responding to student e-mails; conducting and grading assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means, in a timely manner; and submitting final grades. Course appointments may require instruction during the day, on evenings, on weekends, off-campus, online, hybrid, or remotely.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in TESOL or closely related field required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must. Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level is highly desired. Experience teaching English as a second language required.
