Position Summary

The Department of Environmental Sciences (DES) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, invites applications for a full-time Non-Tenure Track Teaching Instructor.

Primary duties include:

  • Teaching and coordinating undergraduate Environmental Science lecture courses, both online and in person

  • Initial assignments include multiple sections of Introduction to Environmental Science 11:375:101

  • Other courses may include Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Biology, Environmental Fate and Transport, Careers in Environmental Sciences, Water and Wastewater Treatment, and others, assigned based on need and expertise

  • Advancing expertise in pedagogy, advising, and mentoring students

  • Service within the department, school, and university as appropriate


Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level, both online and in person, in Environmental Sciences or Environmental Engineering

  • Experience with active learning, inclusive course design, and modern pedagogical methods is preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with inclusive course design and assessment practices
