Position Description

The Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks applications for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff track. This appointment is initially for one (1) year, with continuation and renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding, for a maximum of three (3) years.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in neuroendovascular and cerebrovascular surgery and will contribute to the Department’s clinical, educational, and scholarly missions.

Qualifications

  • M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree

  • Completion of fellowships in:

    • Endovascular neurosurgery

    • Cerebrovascular microsurgery

  • Specialized expertise in neuroendovascular and cerebrovascular surgery

Clinical Responsibilities

Clinical duties may include neuroendovascular and microsurgical treatment of cerebrovascular disorders, such as:

  • Intracranial and spinal aneurysms

  • Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)

  • Ischemic disorders of the brain and spine

  • Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke

Clinical care will be provided at Penn Medicine and affiliated hospital sites.

Teaching and Educational Responsibilities

The Instructor will participate in the education and supervision of:

  • Medical students

  • Neurosurgery residents

  • Fellows within the neuroendovascular fellowship

Research and Scholarly Opportunities

Research and scholarship opportunities may include collaboration on clinical research in cerebrovascular disease and neurovascular technologies.
