Temporary Part-Time Instructor in Persian Music
The UCI Department of Music is seeking an instructor for a course on “Introduction to Persian Music” for Spring Quarter 2023. Qualifications include a PhD in Music, and an exhibited track record of success in teaching undergraduate students at the university level. This role requires advanced expertise in classical Persian music research and Radif, knowledge of vocal Radif and Pish-Radif and its application in teaching Persian music, and advanced abilities in reading and writing in Persian. This temporary position also requires expertise in the music of modern Iran as the course covers various musical genres practiced in Iran and its diaspora. In addition, candidates should demonstrate the ability and commitment to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Duties of the instructor include teaching for 180-minutes cumulatively split over two days per week, and working closely with the students in preparation for their final papers.
