Posting Summary:

The Department of Psychology, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), is seeking part-time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjutant) for the Fall 2025 semester to teach foundational psychology courses, recitations, laboratories, or upper-level courses.

The successful candidate will cover the full range of duties associated with teaching, including, but not limited to:

  • Preparing course material

  • Creating and posting a course syllabus

  • Presenting material during the assigned course times

  • Holding office hours and providing appropriate out-of-class time for students

  • Responding to student e-mails

  • Conducting and grading assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means, in a timely manner

  • Submitting final grades

Course appointments may require instruction during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, off-campus, online, hybrid, remotely, or any combination of these, based on the academic needs of the department/unit.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work or a closely related field required.

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. strongly preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level is highly desired.
