Position Overview

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Rutgers University-Newark seeks a part-time instructor to teach Sociology and/or Anthropology of Mental Health and Illness online.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing course materials and posting a course syllabus

  • Teaching online course sessions

  • Holding office hours and providing out-of-class support

  • Responding to student emails

  • Conducting and grading assessments (assignments, exams, etc.)

  • Submitting final grades on time

Special Instruction:

  • Include a syllabus for a previously taught course uploaded under “Other Documents”


Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree strongly preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level highly desired

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience teaching sociology or anthropology


Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: Minimum of $2,777 per credit

  • Salary determined by qualifications, experience, department/grant funds, market benchmarks, and internal equity
