The Department of Urban Education in the School of Arts and Sciences–Newark (SASN) at Rutgers University–Newark seeks part-time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjutant) for the Spring 2026 semester. Instructors will teach education survey courses or upper-level courses on designated themes or topics.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full range of instructional duties, including:
Preparing course materials
Creating and posting a course syllabus
Delivering instruction during assigned course times
Holding office hours and providing adequate out-of-class support
Responding to student emails
Designing, conducting, and grading assessments in a timely manner
Submitting final grades
Course assignments may require teaching daytime, evening, weekend, off-campus, online, hybrid, remote, or mixed instructional formats, based on departmental needs.
Position Title: Part-Time Instructor, Urban Education
Position Status: Part-Time
Salary: Minimum of $2,777 per credit
Final compensation will consider qualifications, experience, expertise, available funding, market benchmarks, and internal equity.

Master’s degree required
Ph.D. or other terminal degree preferred
