The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Department of Mathematics, invites applications for a

Junior Professorship for `Non-Smooth optimization´

from October 1st, 2021.

The person should represent the area of non-smooth optimization in the whole broadness from theory to numerical realization in research and teaching. Furthermore, there should be a connection to applications with partial differential equations or optimal control. Cooperations with the groups of Mathematical Optimization and Applied Mathematics at the institute, for example joint project applications for third party funding, are expressly desired.

We are looking for a dynamic personality who has the quality and prospects for a research-oriented academic career. A qualified dissertation in the field of mathematical optimization with focus in the field of continuous, restricted optimization is required. Experience in third-party funding (participation in corresponding research projects or application) is desirable.

The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 102 a of the `Berliner Hochschulgesetz´.
