The Biomedical Engineering Department seeks a Part-Time Lecturer for the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus for Spring 2022 for a course in prosthesis engineering and design. The course is expected to be an upper-level undergraduate elective in biomedical engineering. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the evaluation of prosthetic devices and prosthesis design, primarily from the perspective on an engineer, but also from the perspective of the patient and practitioner. The goals of the course are to educate students about: how the mechanics of human motion, especially in those who are living with limb loss, affects mobility, pain, overall health, and quality of life; common challenges and features of limb loss and challenges that are unique to an individual; and how engineers work with clinicians and patients to provide prosthetic devices that yield the best and most functional outcomes to address these challenges.
