Position Summary

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University invites applications for a 19.12% time fixed-term lecturer for Spring Semester 2023 to teach the CE 273 Civil and Environmental Engineering Measurements course. Duties would include teaching sophomore and junior-level students in the one-credit lecture section of this introductory surveying course.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience training students in surveying. CE 273 Civil and Environmental Engineering Measurements, is a required 2-credit course that introduces surveying and error analysis with applications to civil and environmental engineering problems. Licensure as a professional surveyor (PS) is preferred at the time of hire.

Bachelors -Land Surveying or Civil Engineering

Desired Degree

Doctorate -Civil Engineering

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must have a BS degree in land surveying, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Applicants must have strong oral and written communication skills. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching land surveying; Licensure as a professional surveyor.
