Lecturer - Civil Engineering

Job Description

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU - UK), degrees are offered in Qatar in partnership with Oryx Universal College located in a central location in Doha. Currently the following programs are offered in the Doha Campus.

  • MSc in Project Management;
  • BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying;
  • BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and
  • BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering.

The college is also preparing to launch a range of additional new programs in the next 12 months in Business, engineering and computing disciplines.  

 
OUC and all its programs are recognised and approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar.

This call for expression of interest is for 3 Lecturers in Civil Engineering.

Currently we are seeking motivated individual to join our Academic team as Lecturers. There are some leadership positions also available for suitable candidates. A detailed job and person specification is set out below for individual posts.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate their ability to;
  • develop the material for the modules they deliver on the current programme.
  • Ensure that existing modules are updated in content as per developments in the industry.
  • Deliver on a range of modules across programmes.
  • Develop assessments for the modules on the programme, ensuring that they are as per LJMU guidelines and policies, in line with the assessment matrix and meet the deadlines for verification and external moderation.
  • Take on the role of personal tutor for students. 
  • Supervise final year dissertations.
  • Meet all LJMU academic regulations in relation to the modules that they deliver.
  • Contribute in developing new programmes, CPD and short courses to increase the computing portfolio of courses.

The successful applicant must have (essential) an undergraduate degree in a Civil Engineering discipline.

Candidates with one or more of the following credentials will have significant advantages during consideration for this position;
  • a masters (Level 7) or PhD (Level 8) Qualification,
  • teaching experience delivering undergraduate units (Level 4 or above),
  • Qualification/training to teach at undergraduate level,
  • Having worked in the related industry - civil engineering
