Position description

The Computational & Systems Biology Interdepartmental Program at UCLA is seeking an instructor for Spring 2022 for a new undergraduate research skills course, C&S BIO 10, targeted towards first- and second-year students.
Course Description: C&S BIO 10: Preparation for Research in Computational & Systems Biology
Lecture, two and one half hours. Provides students with basic understanding of basic statistics, Python, R, and UNIX used in molecular biology research. Focus on practical application of these tools rather than deep theoretical understanding. Creates more inclusive and accessible experience for learners. P/NP or letter grading.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Ph.D. degree in the computational biology or related field; demonstrated experience in undergraduate teaching at the university level; experience with laboratory instruction in the biological sciences; demonstrated expertise in UNIX, Python, and R; experience conducting and mentoring students in computational biology research.
