Position Summary
The School of Education at Indiana University South Bend is seeking a full-time lecturer in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with training in and knowledge of Science of Reading practices for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Teaching four courses per semester in early childhood education, elementary education and related content for graduate and undergraduate teacher preparation programs
      • Courses may be in-person, online, hybrid, or in additional formats, and may be offered in the evenings or on weekends.
      • Assisting with the implementation of Science of Reading pedagogy and methodology in teacher preparation coursework across undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs. This includes facilitating faculty and student training in Science of Reading
      • Assisting in recruitment and retention efforts as needed
      • Providing service to the school, college, campus, and university and participate in shared governance activities as appropriate to the visiting line
      • Working collaboratively with faculty from other campuses, K-12 schools, and agencies.

Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
    • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
    • 3-5 years of experience teaching literacy in the elementary classroom (prek-3).
    • Training or certification in Science of Reading
    • Demonstration of excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

 


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Experience implementing Science of Reading methods in elementary classrooms
  • Experience and evidence of successful teaching at the university level, including in online settings
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse faculty and student populations
  • Experience facilitating curriculum development, mapping, and evaluation
