Duties and responsibilities: 

• Provide and facilitate teaching, learning, and assessment.
• Develop learning material and course content, to ensure continuity in relevance and maintenance of quality.
• Provide opportunities for individual student, interaction and consultation.
• Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.
• Be involved in the programmes of the Discipline School and Faculty.
• Develop his/her research programme.
• Develop his/her active research programme that should be evidenced by publications, presentations, and eventually obtain a doctoral degree.
• Publish on average one (1) SAPSE/ISI journal article per two (2) year cycle.
• Update knowledge and understanding in the field of specialisation.
• Become acquainted with all relevant University and Faculty policies and to implement these appropriately.
• Serve on School, Faculty and University wide bodies as   applicable.
• Execute administrative duties as designated by the Head of the School/ Department.

Inherent requirements: 

• B.Eng. or BSc on NQF level 8 in Engineering (Agricultural or Mechanical) plus eight (8) years' relevant industry and or academic experience.
• A Master’s degree on NQF level nine (9) in Engineering (Agricultural or Mechanical) or relevant discipline with at least one year of academic / industrial / research experience, or training in related engineering computer design programs.
• Relevant registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), as well as discipline specific Association(s).

• Leading:
o The ability to maintain high levels of personal motivation, energy and enthusiasm.
