Applications are invited for the above post in the School of Geographical Sciences within the Faculty of Science & Engineering at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China. The School of Geographical Sciences at UNNC is part of the School of Geography at the University of Nottingham, UK, which is ranked among the top UK Geography schools (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/geography/). The School of Geographical Sciences provides a stimulating study environment based on the highest standards of teaching and innovative research. We offer undergraduate course BSc (Hons) Environmental Science (2+2) with excellent learning support, small class sizes, an international learning environment and access to marine, mountain and urban environments, in subtropical, tropical and temperate areas. Facilities include two dedicated environmental sciences laboratories in the Science and Engineering Building and a range of industry-standard equipment and computer software.

Geographical Sciences at UNNC is a designated strategic area for growth in the University’s Strategic Plan. We are now looking for a world-class research-led teaching fellow to strengthen our team of international experts. Candidates must have a PhD in Geography, Environmental Sciences or Environmental Engineering or closely related disciplines and an international reputation in research and scholarship. Strong applications in all areas of Environmental Sciences will be considered. An established track record in high-quality research outputs is a distinct advantage. Teaching and tutorial experience in Geographical Sciences subjects at the undergraduate level in an international English-speaking institution is also essential.

The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, participate in assessing and examining students, supervise PhD students, perform high-quality research and obtain external research grants. 

The person appointed to this role will be expected to commence employment in person at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China in Feb. 2025 or as soon as thereafter. The post will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for one year.

Salary will be within the range of RMB 350,343 to RMB 477,481 per annum, depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance, first arrival & repatriation support, and international private insurance will be provided for international appointments.
