The Department of Global Studies at University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach an undergrad seminar course, one per quarter, in Global Studies focusing on fieldwork research methods for students preparing to embark on Education Abroad Programs. The course may focus on some combination of the following areas:
• International research methods, fieldwork, and research ethics
• Qualitative and quantitative data collection in an international environment
• Global and Area Studies themes such as global cultures, history, and religion; global political economy; global governance and human rights
• the history of EAP/study abroad in context
• regional and area studies in comparative and international context
Successful applications should reference one or more of these themes and discuss how the applicant’s studies and experience would contribute to designing and delivering the course.
Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the curricular needs of the department. Positions may range from 33% to 100%. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.

Applicants must have completed an MA/MS degree, PhD degree or be completing a PhD degree by time of application.
Department seeks candidates with backgrounds in the social sciences, humanities, or interdisciplinary fields. Additional preferred qualification includes relevant teaching experience in a related field.
