The Department of Medical Imaging at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Department of Medical Imaging, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto are recruiting a Diagnostic Neuroradiologist.
The successful candidate will participate in the clinical and academic activities of the Division of Neuroradiology. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, depending on research and teaching strengths. The expected start date is July 1, 2027 or later.
The role includes research and teaching responsibilities alongside clinical practice in a high-volume, high-acuity academic hospital environment.
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is the largest stroke and trauma centre in Ontario, with major programs in:
Neurosurgery
Neurology
Neuro-oncology
Otolaryngology and Head & Neck services
The institution is equipped with advanced imaging infrastructure, including:
Two 1.5T MRI scanners
Two 3.0T MRI scanners
Four new clinical CT scanners
One PET/CT scanner
Three dedicated research MR systems, including a 7.0T MRI
Dedicated research PET/MR systems
Sunnybrook is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a leader in clinical education and biomedical research. The Sunnybrook Research Institute conducts approximately $100 million in annual research and supports over 2,000 learners each year.
The successful candidate will:
Join the Division of Neuroradiology in clinical and academic service
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
Conduct academic research aligned with departmental strengths
Contribute to multidisciplinary neuroimaging services in a high-acuity hospital setting
Academic rank (Lecturer or Assistant Professor) will depend on experience and research profile.
Applicants must:
Hold an MD or equivalent degree
Be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Diagnostic Imaging (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent)
Have completed residency training in Diagnostic Radiology
Have at least 2 years of fellowship training in Neuroradiology
Be qualified in full-spectrum diagnostic radiology coverage, including chest, abdomen, pelvis, and musculoskeletal imaging for rare emergency coverage
Have skills in minor neuroradiology interventions (e.g., lumbar puncture, spine biopsy)
Demonstrate willingness for 24/7 on-call coverage
Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
Estimated remuneration: > $300,000 per annum
Pay depends on clinical income, academic rank, qualifications, and experience
