About the Role

Applications are invited for a Lecturer in Islamic History (Teaching & Research) or Lecturer in Islamic History (Teaching & Scholarship). The post holder will be expected to deliver high quality teaching and participate in activities to improve student education, welfare, engagement and overall experience. The Lecturer in Islamic History (T&R) will be expected to make important research contributions to the field of Islamic History and to the intellectual life of the School. The Lecturer in Islamic History (T&S) will make key pedagogical contributions to the field and maximise public engagement.

About You

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Islamic History or in a relevant field, experience of teaching at undergraduate and /or postgraduate level, and a track record of high-quality research or subject-specific pedagogical work published in appropriate renowned outlets. Higher education teaching accreditation is desirable.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full-time indefinite contract, with an expected start date of 1st September 2022. The salary will be Grade 5/6 £43,069 - £53,625 annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Appointment to a T&R or T&S contract will be based on the applicant’s research potential assessed through the application and interview. Applicants may indicate their preference in their personal statements.
