Position description

The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music’s Department of Ethnomusicology invites applications for a part-time lecturer position in Music of Korea for the Spring quarter of the 2021-22 academic year. Candidates must have advanced expertise in group and solo performance with a diverse mixture of Korean music and instruments. University teaching experience preferred. The candidate will be expected to direct performance ensembles related to Korean music. The position also requires interacting with the Korean community on various cultural and educational initiatives. PhD in Ethnomusicology or related field is preferred.

Candidates should submit: a cover letter stating interest in the position, a comprehensive curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and a statement of contribution to diversity. In addition, please provide names and contact information for at least three professional references. The application deadline is December 31, 2021. Applicants may consider including online video links representing their teaching although doing so is not required.
