The Full-Time Faculty role will provide support to Purdue University Global’s School of Nursing. Dallas County Hospital, 610 10th Street, Perry, IA 50220
Full-time faculty may have responsibilities in four areas: teaching, service, scholarship, and professional development. The allocation of time in each area is determined annually, after discussion with the Program Head, and may vary year to year.
The workload is based on the needs of the Department and School, consistent with Purdue Global’s mission as a teaching institution.
While teaching is typically the primary responsibility, service, scholarship, and professional development activities form part of the annual workload.
May include both undergraduate and graduate courses
Course assignments consider credentials, program needs, number of preparations, and number of students
Participate in and/or take leadership roles in Purdue Global department or university-wide governance committees
Examples include course lead, mentoring other faculty, student-focused activities, portfolio evaluation, curriculum work, vacation relief for colleagues, and leadership in professional organizations
In limited cases, some service activities may receive additional compensation
Vary by faculty interest and may not be required
Should be developed in consultation with the Dean, Associate Dean, or Program Head
Examples include implementing solutions or new approaches to academic/professional challenges, publishing articles, and presenting at academic/professional meetings
Minimum 8 hours per year required
Additional professional development may count toward workload if approved by Program Head
Provide a student-centered learning environment
Report concerns about student progress to Success Coaches or Academic Advisors
Assist the University in retention and outreach efforts
Maintain open and timely communication via Purdue Global email
Participate in institutional assessment and new program development
Attend faculty meetings and continuous improvement sessions
Remain current with trends, techniques, and technology relevant to the program
Maintain accurate and timely reports for student grades
Follow university style and branding guidelines for all student materials, ensuring accessibility
BSN minimum requirement, MSN preferred
2–5 years’ experience working as a nurse
Minimum 2 years of related teaching experience and/or training (online teaching experience a plus)
Active, unencumbered registered nursing license and/or advanced practice license
Experience with Brightspace LMS preferred
Proficiency in MS Office and Google applications
Knowledge of databases, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software; use of PC, simulation, and basic nursing equipment
Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Valid driver’s license in Iowa and surrounding states
Target Salary: $80,000
