Position description

The Department of Music at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking applicants for lecturer positions in the field of Persian Music for the 2021-2022 academic year. Appointments will be part-time. Positions available beginning Winter Quarter 2022.


Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates should be well versed in multiple Persian traditional instruments as well as Western instruments on which Persian music could be taught and performed. Candidates should have extensive educational experiences in private instrument teaching (5 years or more). Candidates should demonstrate strong skills in private and group instruction of multiple instruments and theory in diverse classrooms. The successful candidate will be asked to teach private and group instructions for multiple Persian Traditional instruments. The candidates should also be fluent in the theory and performance practice of Western music to be able to draw on the experience of students in Western music and be able to teach Persian music on Western instruments.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidates must have either a completed M.F.A., D.M.A., or Ph.D., or equivalent professional experience.
