Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach master’s and doctoral-level counseling courses in:Teach undergraduate courses
    • Mental health counseling
    • Rehabilitation counseling
  • Develop curriculum materials for on-campus and online courses
  • Teach in both in-person and web-based environments
  • Pursue an active research agenda
  • Assist with program accreditation preparation
  • Advise graduate students
  • Participate in:Comply with Rutgers RBHS and legacy UMDNJ policies (corporate compliance, code of conduct, conflict of interest policies)
    • Professional associations
    • Community service
    • University service activities

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Candidates must have:

  • Doctorate in:Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or eligibility for LPC in New Jersey
    • Counselor Education and Supervision
    • Psychiatric Rehabilitation
    • Or equivalent field (preferably CACREP-accredited program)
  • Experience as a mental health counselor
  • Knowledge/interest in psychiatric rehabilitation
  • Higher education teaching experience (or equivalent graduate assistant/guest lecturing experience for recent graduates)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or eligibility
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity
  • Experience providing evidence-based interventions for individuals with serious mental illness
  • Professional membership in counseling organizations

Work Environment

  • Primary work location: Piscataway campus
  • Environment: classrooms and offices
  • Moderate noise level
  • Standard office equipment provided
  • Some local travel required for clinical site visits and stakeholder meetings
