 The School is developing its research portfolio in reducing health inequalities and in mental health across its areas of critical mass in Health and Social psychology, Cognition and Neuroscience, and Appetite and Obesity.  For the current position the School is seeking candidates whose research interests are in obesity, nutrition, health and policy. 

 The post will be linked to the Head of School, Professor Jason Halford, who has interests in i) the prevention and treatment of obesity, ii) psychological factors in weight management, iii) food policy and public health and iv) inequalities and food insecurity, mental health and inequalities. It will support the collaborations across the school, the development of interdisciplinary research across the faculty, link to the University’s Global Food and Environment Institute and potentially support collaborative work with the World Health Organisation (WHO).  It could also link to N8-Agrifood and new initiatives around child health within the N8.

 Applicants will have a strong track-record in developing and leading cutting-edge research in an applied field of psychology which complements the existing expertise at the School. This should be evidenced by 3* / 4* REF returnable papers. You will be committed to providing a first class learning and teaching experience. You will also be expected to provide leadership in our internal administrative structures to ensure the School delivers an excellent environment for staff and students. An interest in digital education would be welcome.

 You will have a PhD in a relevant field, along with postgraduate experience in psychology and evidence of an ability to teach successfully and effectively.  You will also have a successful record of attracting external research funding.
