Location: University of Botswana, Gaborone
The Department of Psychology at the University of Botswana invites applications from an innovative and research-active psychologist to join our team. The successful candidate will:
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate psychology courses
Initiate, promote, and participate in research activities
Supervise student research projects, practicum, and internship students
Undertake other duties as assigned by the Head of Department
Applicants must have:
Academic Qualifications
Doctorate in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) with a specialization in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
Registration or eligibility for registration with the Botswana Health Professions Council
Teaching Experience
Minimum of 3 years relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution
Research & Publications
Sustained and excellent research record
Minimum of 6 research outputs, including at least 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals indexed internationally
Remaining outputs may include journal articles, book chapters, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, or an academic book (equivalent to a maximum of 4 refereed articles, depending on publisher quality)
Minimum of 1 peer-reviewed publication every 2 years
Lead or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles
Evidence of research impact (citations, h-index, patents, policy application, prescribed texts, peer reviews)
Professional Recognition & Engagement
Recognized as having national research standing (e.g., reviewer for refereed publishers, editorial board membership, keynote speaker at national/international conferences)
Evidence of governance and social engagement
Desirable / Advantageous:
Sustained internally and/or externally funded research activity
Research awards or recognition
Experience as examiner/moderator/assessor for undergraduate and/or postgraduate projects nationally
Experience in managing academic programs or courses
