Job Summary

Purdue University Global offers term-by-term, non-tenured teaching appointments to qualified individuals committed to high-quality instruction for adult learners in Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degree programs. This is a part-time role, with teaching of up to 3 courses per term (max 10 courses/year).

Adjunct faculty will participate in continuing professional development, may engage in faculty governance and curriculum work, and perform additional service duties as assigned.

Teaching hours: Must be available for synchronous teaching and seminar sessions Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:00–10:00 p.m. ET.


Responsibilities

  • Provide a student-centered learning environment to promote student success

  • Teach synchronous or asynchronous 10-week courses as assigned

  • Maintain virtual office hours for each class

  • Respond to student, administrator, and university correspondence in a timely manner

  • Lead online discussion boards and engage students in coursework

  • Partner with Academic Advisors and Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to support students requiring accommodations

  • Maintain accurate and timely student grades and progress reports

  • Enforce student conduct policies and attend required meetings

  • Remain current with trends, techniques, and technology applicable to the program

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s degree in Sociology

  • 1–3 years of related practical/professional experience; online/higher education teaching preferred

  • Reliable availability for scheduled evening teaching sessions

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Experience with Brightspace learning management system

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Connect)

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

  • Commitment to student engagement and success

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Strong teamwork and cross-department collaboration skills

  • Compensation: ~$2,800 per full 10-week course; retirement benefits include automatic 403(b) contribution of 3% and company match up to 4% (optional 457(b) plan)
