Work duties
The work duties of the position comprise teaching and research in sociology on both undergraduate and advanced levels. The employment consists of 70 percent teaching, 20 percent research and skills development and 10 percent administration, in accordance with the agreement on working hours for teaching staff at Lund University.
The duties include performing high-quality teaching at all educational levels, as well as conducting leading research to high international standards, in sociology. The incumbent is expected to actively contribute to the progressive development of our research environment, especially in the field of working life, organizational and/or human resources (HR), as well as publishing research and applying for external research funds. In addition, the incumbent must actively contribute to the development of the departments' courses and programmes, primarily in the bachelor's and master's programs in HR. The duties also include course administration, responsibility for pedagogical development work and collaborating both within and between courses. The language of instruction is in both Swedish and English.
Qualifications
The qualification requirements for employment as a senior lecturer are stated in Chapter 4 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the appointment rules for teaching staff at Lund University (https://www.staff.lu.se/sites/staff.lu.se/files/lund-university-appointment-rules-2018.pdf).
To be eligible for employment as a senior lecturer, the applicant must have obtained a PhD in sociology or equivalent, with clear relevance to the call. The eligible applicant has also demonstrated pedagogical skills and has the personal qualities required to perform the position well. The applicant must have completed at least five weeks of training in "teaching and learning in higher education" or have equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way. Applicants who do not have formal training in teaching and learning in higher education are expected to complete such training within one year of the start of employment.
Requirements
The candidate is required to hold a PhD in Sociology or the equivalent, and have teaching and research experience in the field of sociology or the equivalent. High competency in sociological or equivalent research and teaching is a merit, especially broad competence related to working life, organization, and human resources. The successful candidate should have an interest in leadership, human resources, and human resources development. Previous teaching within a Human Resources program or equivalent is seen as an advantage.
The candidate is required to demonstrate documented scientific expertise. Having received external research funding is an advantage. Furthermore, candidates must be able to work independently, responsibly and in a structured manner with both teaching and research. Good communication skills and very good collaboration skills are a requirement.
Assessment criteria
Upon assessment of the applicants, equal weight will be given to teaching and research expertise. Emphasis is also attached to administrative competence and other skills that are of importance for the subject content and duties of the position.
When assessing teaching expertise, quality is primarily reviewed but also scope, span and depth is considered. Teaching expertise must be well documented so that quality also can be assessed. Documented experience of pedagogical leadership in initiating, planning, leading, developing and implementing teaching will be given special attention.
When assessing research expertise, publications of high scientific quality is primarily taken into consideration, as well as progression in scientific production over the past five years. The depth and scope of the research will also be given importance. Furthermore, emphasis is given to the ability to initiate, plan, lead and develop research as well as the ability to obtain funding for research in competition. The same applies to the ability to interact within and across disciplins, as well as with the surrounding society.
In the recruitment of the position, good ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research and development work is also considered.
Suitability to successfully perform the position is a requirement. Special emphasis is placed on collaborative skills with colleagues and external actors as well as the ability to contribute to a positive development of teaching and research activities at the department. The future senior lecturer is expected to actively participate in the day-to-day work of the department.

About the recruitment process

Non-Scandinavian-speaking applicants are expected to acquire a knowledge of Swedish at the level required to fulfil ordinary work duties within education and administration within the first two years of employment. There are opportunities for Swedish language training within Lund University.
