Position Overview
- Develop and teach an elective course in Architectural History for upper-level undergraduate students.
- Focus on global histories of architecture with particular attention to the U.S. and the Northeast, ideally connected to New York City.
- Engage with topics like professional practice, labor, economics, civic engagement, preservation, participatory design, and ecological histories.
Responsibilities
- Develop/update syllabus in consultation with advisory faculty.
- Order course materials in advance.
- Prepare lectures, projects, and assignments.
- Maintain office hours and meet scheduled class periods.
- Grade assignments/exams timely; submit midterm and final grades.
- Facilitate student evaluations.
Required Qualifications
- PhD completed or near completion in Architectural History or Art History with a primary focus on architecture/urbanism.
- Scholarly agenda aligning with global and U.S. architectural history.
- Ability to develop and teach an upper-level undergraduate course.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience connecting course content to New York City through physical, archival, or other resources.
