The research group ORSTAT of KU Leuven (Belgium) has a vacancy for a full-time PhD scholarship in Statistics, starting at the latest in September 2021, for a maximum of four years. The candidate will work on a statistica topic related to modelling dependencies, model selection or post-selection inference. This work should lead to a PhD degree.
Candidates should have a strong interest in statistics and preferably hold a Master’s degree in Statistics, Business Engineering (Handelsingenieur), Mathematics, or equivalent.
An average degree of “distinction” during preliminary studies (bachelor and master) is required, as well as an appropriate knowledge of written and spoken English.
Experience with at least one programming language (such as R) is an asset. Students that are currently in the final year of their Master studies are especially encouraged to apply.
We offer an employment as full-time doctoral scholar for 1 year, renewable until max. 4 years after positive evaluation. You will find a dynamic and pleasant working environment, in a group that is actively involved in scientific research at the highest international level.
