The European Medical School is a cooperation of the University of Oldenburg and the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen with the participation of Oldenburg hospitals and doctors in private practice in the region. In addition to establishing the model study program "Human Medicine", the above-mentioned organizations also work closely together in research.

In the Department of Anatomy and the Department of Paediatrics of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Oldenburg, a temporary position is available as a joined

PhD position (m/f/d)

(E13 TV-L)

with 65% of the regular working time for three years.

The project will focus on Studying role of Plasticity-related gene 5 (PRG5) on membrane stability during neuronal cell differentiation and will be conducted as an interdisciplinary collaborative research project of the Departments of Paediatrics (Prof Axel Heep) and the Department of Anatomy (Prof Anja Bräuer) of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Oldenburg, Germany.

Your tasks

  • execution of molecular biology, cell biology and protein-lipid-analyses
  • execution of animal experiments
  • planning and execution of experiments and transfer of the gained knowledge into medically relevant systems and animal models
  • evaluation and interpretation of data
  • development and application of technical solutions
  • participation in congresses and presentation of data
  • supervision of students and medical doctoral candidates

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with an above average academic university degree in Life Science, Biology, Biochemistry, or Human Medicine or in a comparable discipline. Good written and spoken German or Dutch as well as English skills are required. Advanced knowledge in at least one the following fields is required: Cell Biology or Molecular Biology. Experience in animal experimental work is desirable but not obligatory, as animal work will be subject of the project. The candidate should be experienced in DNA extraction and common protein analysis methods.
