This position is for a Postdoc (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 100%). to work in Casu's research group, uni-tuebingen.de/de/42240, to undertake research on magnetic hybrid interfaces. Fixed-term.
The position is funded by the EU under the Horizon2020 program, with the project INTERFAST. INTERFAST will develop a novel technological platform for the voltage control of interfacial magnetism. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake experimental research in a team environment, working under the supervision of Dr. Casu, alongside other research groups belonging to the European Consortium.
Experience is required in the characterization of thin films by using ultra-high vacuum techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience with more than one of the following techniques: OMBD/MBE, XPS, UPS, NEXAFS, AFM. Candidates who just graduated are very welcome.
Other responsibilities include: - Liaising with the other researchers and academics involved in this work - Collaborate with colleagues from different disciplines - Analysing and interpreting the results of own research - Design and conduct a coherent set of experiments and record their outcome - Conducting literature and database searches - Writing up results of own research - Assisting with meeting organization - Leading and contributing to the production of research reports and publications - Presenting information on research progress and outcomes to internal and external contacts.
Experience Criteria: Applicants should have a Ph.D. and a strong background in solid-state/materials science or closely related subject with experience in thin-film growth by (organic) molecular beam deposition. UHV experience is mandatory. In particular, candidates with experience with XPS, NEXAFS, UPS, and related techniques are welcome. Effective written communication skills and the ability to plan and organize independently are an asset.
