Post-Doctoral Position in Applied Microeconomics

The Department of Economics at the University of Bern, Switzerland, is inviting applications for one post-doctoral research position in applied microeconomics, under the supervision of Prof. Jeanne Tschopp. The position is for up to 3 years. The starting date is September 2020 but a later date up to February 2021 is possible.

Research experience in Development Economics, Environmental Economics, Labor Economics, or International Trade are preferred requirements. Applicants should hold a recent PhD in Economics, or be close to finishing their thesis. The successful candidate has demonstrated her or his potential to conduct high-quality research, by publications or working papers suitable for publication in reputable international journals.

The successful candidate is expected to independently conduct academic research and to work on the research projects associated with this position. The project will involve studying the economic impacts of hurricanes using firm-level data in India and will be a joint effort with Prof. Martino Pelli, (University of Sherbrooke, Canada). Active participation in the research team and interactions with the other Professors and PhD students are expected. The position does not involve any teaching. Travel to reputable international conferences is encouraged and covered by a dedicated budget in the second and third year. A sound command of oral and written English is mandatory; German language skills are not required.
