Postdoc in Bone Pain lab at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc for a 2 years and 2 months position to commence on 1 January 2023. The position aims at providing in vivo proof of concept for the use of a biologic therapy for the treatment of cancer-induced bone pain. Our research

The project will focus on in vivo models of cancer-induced bone pain. The work requires interfacing with a number of national and international collaborators and is placed in the Heegaard group, which provides a dynamic and diverse research environment focused on translational research in malignant and non- malignant bone pain. The Heegaard group aims to promote a positive research culture within the team.

Your job

We strive to conduct world-class in vivo research using both evoked and non-evoked behavioural outcome measures. Your tasks would include in vivo models of cancer-induced bone pain, pain-related behavioural tests, cell culture, and immunohistochemistry. The position would further require collaborations with researchers in Sweden, Denmark and France.

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in in vivo pharmacology.
  • You are highly experienced in mouse models of bone pain, pain-related behavioural measures, perfusion fixation, tissue collection and immunohistochemistry.
  • You have an active interest in nociceptive mechanisms underlying bone pain.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • International experience
  • First-author publications in international journals
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Skills within in vivo bioluminescence imaging
  • Experience with supervision of master’s students
  • Evidence for cross-disciplinary collaborations

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and in vivo facilities.

Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years and 2 months. The starting date is 1 January 2023.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 35,700 DKK/approx. 4,800 EUR (October 2022 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

The further process
