Postdoc Position in Bio-Based Polymer Materials
KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.
With a focus on sustainability, this project aims to find out how agriculture-sourced materials should be processed and modified to enable replacement of today´s bulk thermoplastics. The scientific objectives of this project are:
i) In-depth understanding of how to create a lignocellulosic feedstock based on the unique spatial and compositional structure of the biomass,
ii) In-depth understanding of the chemical and morphological structures over length scales ranging over several orders of magnitude in the biomass after treatment, and
iii) Structural and chemical relationships for how modification processes affect the functionality of the materials.
The project is part of the research center Fib:Re, funded by Vinnova. You will have great opportunities to work within a large network within academia and industry in Sweden.
