The Cancer Symptom Management and Support Program at Duke University conducts clinical research and behavioral medicine interventions to address the psychological, social, behavioral, and symptom management needs of cancer patients and families. The program is part of the Duke Pain Prevention and Treatment Research Program and the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program.
Faculty expertise includes interventions for:
Emotional distress
Symptom management
Treatment adherence
Sexual health
Comorbid chronic health conditions
Intervention delivery modalities include: in-person, telephone, and mobile health technologies.
Conduct behavioral medicine research studies and technical duties.
Assist in developing study intervention protocols and materials.
Deliver interventions to study participants.
Compile, analyze, and document research data; prepare manuscripts for publication.
Conduct literature reviews and scholarly syntheses.
Contribute to grant proposals and present findings at scientific meetings.
Mentor students, interns, and assist in training program development and evaluation.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinical providers and researchers.
Doctoral degree (PhD) in Clinical Psychology
Prior research and clinical experience in psycho-oncology
Motivated and independent candidate
