Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the School of Biological Sciences (Ref.: 500620), to commence on September 1, 2020 or as soon after as possible thereafter for one year.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Ecology, Earth System Science, Climate Change, Biology or related fields, and a demonstrated research track record.  They should have experience in modelling and coding, and high-performance computing of the Earth system, atmosphere or biosphere.  Proficiency in a high-level programming language (e.g., R, Python) is required.

The appointee will work on the research topic of Climate, Ecosystems, and Insects incorporating diverse elements of ecology and earth system science within an integrated modelling framework.  He/She will join a collaborative project under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Bonebrake (http://web.hku.hk/~tbone/) and Dr. Louise Ashton (http://louiseashton.net/) in the Research Division of Ecology and Biodiversity at The University of Hong Kong, and Dr. Amos Tai (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/sci/essc/tgabi/) in the Earth System Science Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.  The research will centre on the roles of insects in tropical ecosystems (e.g., herbivory and decomposition) and climate-ecosystem interactions under global climate change.  The project will integrate data from empirical field studies with climate-ecosystem modelling to address the main research questions. 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
