Position Overview

We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship position. The prospective postdoctoral fellow will work with faculty and students conducting research on health care markets, policy, and regulation.

During the one- or two-year fellowship, the fellow will collaborate on ongoing research covering topics such as:

  • Insurance markets
  • Drug pricing
  • Provider pricing
  • Vertical integration of healthcare organizations
  • Regulation of health care markets

The fellow will also have time for their own complementary research, and access to data sources will be facilitated in support of their work.

The fellow will be supervised by Professor Leemore Dafny.

Appointment is scheduled to begin July 1, 2026, renewable for a second year based on mutual agreement.


Basic Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • A Ph.D. in economics, public policy, or a closely related field
  • All degree requirements completed prior to start date
  • Ph.D. not more than 5 years prior to fellowship start date
  • Strong analytical and programming skills
  • Preferred completion of graduate industrial organization coursework in economics
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to engage in on-site work and collaborate directly with colleagues

Special Requirements

If the Ph.D. was completed within the last 12 months, candidates must provide:

  • A certificate of completion OR
  • A letter from the Registrar confirming all requirements and conferral date

No exceptions apply.


Position Details

  • Term: 1 year (renewable for a second year based on funding and performance)
  • Start date: July 1, 2026 (flexible)
  • Location: Harvard Kennedy School, Boston, MA
  • Hybrid role (on-site presence required on designated schedule)
  • No relocation funding provided
  • Interviews conducted virtually (phone/Zoom)

Salary
