At Lund University, a postdoctoral position should provide opportunities for scientific and pedagogical qualifications. Primarily, there is scope for qualifications in research, but also for some higher education pedagogy training. Teaching may also be part of the duties (max. 20%).
You will work on the extension of the DUNE-FEM package to support computations on GPU hardware with various types of Finite Element methods. This work is embedded in a research project considering structure preserving Finite Element methods for multiphase flows with applications in X-ray tomography.
A PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within numerical analysis, scientific computing or similar. The PhD must have been awarded when the appointment decision is made.
The ability to plan and carry out research of high quality, teaching skills.
Knowledge of Finite Element methods.
Profound knowledge of C++ in relation to scientific software. You have acquired one of the two following skill sets (both is a strong merit):
Previously conducted implementations of algorithms and simulations using contemporary GPU hardware, or
Profound knowledge and experience of the DUNE software environment (https://dune-project.org/) (knowledge and experience with DUNE-FEM is a merit).
You have very good oral and written proficiency in English.
We will mainly consider candidates with a degree completed no more than three years before the last application date.
Experience with interdisciplinary research is a strong merit.
Experience with High Performance Computing, in particular on GPU clusters, is a merit.
The assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject. Consideration will also be given to how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of two years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”).
A postdoctoral position is intended as an initial step in your career and as an opportunity to further deepen and broaden your research expertise.
Preferred start date of the position is May 1st, but no later than September 1st 2026.
