Project Description

The Intelligent Heart Technology Lab at KTH is seeking a Doctoral student to research Soft Robotic Medical Devices for Vascular Applications.

This project focuses on designing interfaces between active soft devices and dynamic vasculature. The research combines:

  • Soft robotics

  • Biomechanics

  • Vascular biology

  • Device manufacturing

The doctoral student will also validate devices in translational preclinical models and collaborate closely with Karolinska Institute and Hospital (Vascular Surgery) for interdisciplinary insights.

Preferred Background: Biomedical, mechanical, or robotics engineering; interests in biomechanics, micro/nano systems, and physiology.

Admission Requirements

  • Completed a second-cycle degree (Master’s) or equivalent (240 higher education credits, including 60 second-cycle credits)

  • English proficiency equivalent to English B/6

Employment Information

  • Employment requires admission to postgraduate education

  • Maximum employment corresponds to four years of full-time doctoral study

  • Up to 20% of time may be dedicated to teaching or administrative tasks

  • Contracts are renewed annually, up to two years at a time
