Program Description

  • PhD program in Economics

  • First 2 years: Core and field courses in economic theory and empirical methods

  • Remaining years: Independent research, thesis writing, departmental duties (teaching, seminars)

  • Funding: Fully funded, public-sector employment benefits in Sweden


Eligibility

Basic:

  • Master’s degree or 240 HE credits, with at least 60 at advanced level, or equivalent

Special:

  • At least 90 HE credits in economics, or 30 HE credits in economics at advanced level, or equivalent

Timeline: Requirements must be met by September 2026

  • Performance at undergraduate and advanced levels (grades, thesis, recommendations)

  • Strong skills in Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics

  • General suitability for PhD studies

  • Supervisor assigned upon admission
