Postdoctoral Position in Machine Learning for Natural Language Processing and Animal Communication

In the framework of the NCCR Evolving Language, a center of excellence on language evolution involving 40 different research groups from a large variety of disciplines across Switzerland, we seek qualified candidates for a postdoctoral position at the intersection of machine learning and natural language processing with possible extension to animal communication.

Your responsibilities

The researcher will investigate generalization abilities of deep learning models applied to lexical and grammatical phenomena, in collaboration with scientists in computational linguistics and neuroscience.

Your profile

The ideal Postdoc candidate should hold a PhD degree in computer science, computational linguistics or related fields. They have a background in natural language processing and machine learning. The applicant should also have strong programming skills. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Paola Merlo at the University of Geneva and Prof. Richard Hanhnloser at ETH and be affiliated with one of the two institutions according to their profile.

Appointment for this position is for an initial period of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance. Funding is currently available for 2 years.
