The Department of Applied Mathematics at the Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) invites applications for two Postdoctoral Senior Research Associate positions beginning in August 2024. These are two-year term appointments with responsibilities in both research and teaching.
Preference will be given to candidates whose expertise aligns with and strengthens the ongoing research in the department. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related discipline, a strong record of research, and demonstrated potential for high-quality teaching. Applicants are encouraged to identify faculty members within the department with whom they may collaborate.
The Department of Applied Mathematics, within the College of Computing, has 15 tenured/tenure-track faculty and serves as a vibrant hub for research in mathematics and statistics across diverse applications. Faculty research is funded by government agencies and private industry. New hires are expected to contribute to ongoing research and teaching in:
Applied Analysis
Computational Mathematics
Data Science
Discrete Mathematics
Financial Mathematics
Stochastics
Statistics
The department offers BS through PhD degrees, including a nationally ranked Master of Data Science and the newly launched Master of FinTech. Mathematics, statistics, and data science are taught to nearly all undergraduate students and many graduate students at Illinois Tech.
