Project Description

The project focuses on severe accident management in Nordic Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs). Key research goals include:

  • Avoiding rapid containment failure during corium melt release from the reactor vessel

  • Developing methods to address uncertainties in severe accident progression

  • Using the ROAAM+ framework for risk assessment

  • Investigating potential energetic interactions between corium melt and water coolant

The position offers opportunities to participate in international collaborative projects.

Preferred Knowledge: Nuclear power, fluid dynamics, thermohydraulics, severe accident phenomena, numerical simulations

Admission Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent (240 higher education credits, including 60 second-cycle credits)

  • English proficiency equivalent to English B/6

Employment Information

  • Only admitted postgraduate students may be employed

  • Maximum employment corresponds to four years of full-time doctoral study

  • Up to 20% of time may be dedicated to teaching or administrative tasks

  • Contracts renewed annually, up to two years at a time
