Postdoctoral Research Associate

(salary level TV-L E 13, 100%)

in the group of Prof. Andrea Rentmeister for the externally funded project Optochemical control of cell fate by activation of mRNA translation at the earliest possible date. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position until 31 May 2023.

Your tasks:

The tasks are mainly focused on the implementation of a new chemical biology technique in eukaryotic cells and zebrafish. The project requires close cooperation with PhD students from the fields of chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology, as well as technical staff at the Institute of Biochemistry. The role will also involve collaboration with research groups within the Cells in Motion Interfaculty Center. The results obtained will be regularly summarized in reports and published in scientific journals.

Our expectations:

The prerequisite for employment is a completed doctorate in biology, biochemistry or closely related disciplines. The ability to document and present scientific results in English is expected.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

  •  RNA biochemical techniques
  •  working with eukaryotic cell culture
  •  microscopy (confocal LSM, possibly also live cell microscopy, two-photon microscopy)
  •  working with zebrafish
