About This Opportunity

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought to undertake research in the area of microbiology and natural product chemistry, to find new animal health antiparasitics from Australian soil microbes, as part of an ARC Linkage Project between The University of Queensland and the industry partner Boehringer Ingelheim.

This position is primarily located at our picturesque St Lucia campus.

Our Ideal Candidate

A PhD or significant progress towards PhD in organic/natural product chemistry with a sound knowledge of microbiology and experience in organic chemistry, in particular the technologies and methodologies of natural products chemistry is essential to the role. Our ideal candidate will possess demonstrated high-level communication, organisational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively collaborate and will demonstrate evidence of research productivity.

Experience in running antimicrobial and cytotoxicity assays as well as evidence of student supervision is highly desirable.

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for up to three years at Academic level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $70,729.74 - $94,637.91, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $90,525.59 - $121,125.16 per annum.
