The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of California, Davis invites
applications for one Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular and Cellular Biology

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will work on the characterization of protein-protein interactions of SARS-CoV2 through cryo-EM and molecular modeling. The chosen individual will perform protein-protein binding experiments, viral reconstitution, cryo-EM analysis and 3D reconstructions of SARS-CoV2. Additionally, the candidate will also be expected to interact closely with computational researchers and contribute to the development of computational methods. Keeping accurate and detailed records of all experiments and critically evaluating the scientific progress of the project are also integral parts of the job. Pursue of independent funding is also expected. The postdoc will assist the PIs in presentations and publications as needed and will actively participate in weekly group meetings and journal clubs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

The topological molecular biology laboratory at UC Davis uses a combination of experimental and computational methods to determine virus structure. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD in biophysics, biochemistry or related field with expertise in Cryo-EM analysis and 3D reconstructions. Proficiency in basic molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning of DNA and recombinant protein production are expected. Experience in computational structural biology (such as molecular dynamics methods) is desirable but not required. The successful candidate will have excellent presentation and writing skills and a collaborative spirit. Previous experience in pursuing independent funding will be valued.

SALARY RANGE: $53,460-$64,008 [100% annual], commensurate with qualifications and experience.

POSITION AVAILABLE/CLOSING DATE: For full consideration, all application materials must

TERM OF APPOINTMENT: This one-year appointment is based on the needs of the research
project. Appointment may be extended upon satisfactory performance.
