POSITION

The Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Science is looking for a full-time (100%) postdoctoral scholarship holder in the field of Automated Reasoning for Quantum Knowledge.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in ongoing research projects in classical representation and reasoning of quantum knowledge.
  • Help coordinate project proposals in the field of theoretical computer science, in general, and quantum information and computation, in particular, and contribute to attracting external funding.
  • Assist in the supervision of PhD students and other team members.
  • Fulfil a limited number of teaching activities.
  • Participate in the provision of academic services, including representing the research group both internally and externally and helping to coordinate service projects.

PROFILE

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a PhD in Computer Science (or a similar discipline).
  • Have not resided or carried out any primary activity in Belgium for at least 12 months during the past 3 years.
  • Have research qualities in line with the faculty and university research policies.
  • Have teaching competences in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
  • Act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • Speak and write fluent English.
  • Be driven and motivated to further develop an academic career.

Applicants should also have research related to quantum information processing or quantum computation, for example:

  • Publications in database, verification, or knowledge representation and reasoning venues comparable to:
    • PODS
    • CAV
    • KR
    • CP

or

  • Publications in venues such as:
    • QPL
    • QIP
    • Quantum journal

WHAT WE OFFER

The University of Antwerp offers:

  • A full-time appointment as a postdoctoral scholarship holder for one year, with the possibility of an extension for a second year following a positive evaluation.
  • An expected starting date of October 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
  • A monthly scholarship calculated according to the scholarship amounts for postdoctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Bijzonder Academisch Personeel – BAP).
