The Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Sciences is looking for a full-time (100%) doctoral scholarship holder in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering.
The PhD project focuses on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering, investigating how both disciplines can reinforce one another.
The position is embedded within the research groups:
ADREM Data Lab (Artificial Intelligence)
AnSyMo (Software Engineering)
Actively work on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis in the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering.
Investigate how Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering can reinforce one another.
Support existing research lines within:
ADREM Data Lab
AnSyMo
Apply for a PhD fellowship from the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) during the 2026–2027 academic year.
Applications for other internal and external predoctoral funding programmes are encouraged.
Publicly defend your doctoral thesis.
Aim to publish research results in scientific venues.
Participate in a limited range of support tasks related to:
Teaching
Research management
Contribute to activities within the Department of Computer Science.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, or completion of the degree before appointment.
Evidence of excellent study results.
Master’s thesis demonstrating experience in:
Artificial Intelligence
Software Engineering
Or both
Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Teaching competences in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
