The Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of Political Science, University of Tübingen is seeking to fill the following vacancy in the research cluster on Peace and Conflict Studies/International Relations from 1 April 2026:
One Pre-Doc Position (f/m/d, E 13 TV-L, 75%)
in the area of International Relations and Peace and Conflict Studies.
The PreDoc will contribute to research in the areas of International Relations, Peace Research and International Institutions and will be expected to complete a PhD in one of these areas. The teaching load is 3 hours per semester, starting in the summer semester 2026, and includes an introductory module in International Relations as well as the National Model United Nations seminar. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the administration of the research cluster.
Essential requirements:
- Excellent MA in Political Science or International Relations with a focus on international institutions, including the United Nations,
- MA Thesis in International Relations, ideally with a focus on international institutions or international law
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent computer and internet skills, including the use of online databases for literature searches as well as bibliographic software.
- Excellent intercultural communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills in both German and English.
- A publication record relative to career stage
A further interest in one of the current research foci of the cluster (European Union foreign policy, Cyprus/Turkey, infrastructure and international order, problems and challenges of international society) would be desirable.
Starting date is 1 April 2026. The employment (German pay scale E13 TV-L, 3 years with the possibility for a further 3-year extension) will be arranged by the administration of the University of Tübingen.
