The Opportunity

Monash University’s Faculty of Engineering is one of the largest in Australia, renowned worldwide for the quality and calibre of our teaching, research and graduates. We are currently seeking an outstanding academic to lead the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE). The Department aims to educate the next generation of leaders in the profession of engineering, generate new knowledge and insight into the processes that govern our discipline, and provide service to the community, our profession and industry. We are the largest department within the Faculty in terms of student numbers and we are renowned for our world class research facilities and research institutes.

The successful candidate will be expected to bring a strong personal commitment and reputation in both education and research. They will play a key role in leading and developing research initiatives in areas such as smart manufacturing, energy and robotics. Drawing on the Monash Maker Space and the Woodside Building for Technology and Design, the Head will expand project-based learning opportunities for students through support of innovative curriculum design. Through their leadership, the Head will foster collaboration within the department, with national colleagues, industry, and international researchers, creating an environment that fosters and supports sustained growth.
